When is Selena: The Series Part 2 coming out on Netflix?
The streaming service has yet to make an official announcement on when it’ll debut part 2, but series star ChristianSerratos told The Los Angeles Times that filming had already wrapped. What would have been Selena’s 50th birthday will be celebrated in April 2021, but based on how long it usually takes Netflix to move from production to premiere, the second part probably won’t be ready by then. It’s a safe bet to say that the second half of Selena: The Series will arrive about a year from now at the latest. In the meantime, Netflix has come up with a fun way to keep on enjoying Selena’s musical legacy: streaming karaoke! The official Con Todo Netflix Twitter account has revealed that one of the singer’s biggest hits, “Como La Flor,” is available for your at-home entertainment:
What will happen in part 2 of Selena: The Series?
The first part’s finale ended with Selena’s father Abraham Quintanilla (played by Ricardo Chavira) forbidding her to become romantically involved with her guitarist and future husband, ChrisPérez (JessePosey). It also gave us a quick glimpse of Yolanda Saldivar, the Selena megafan who murdered her in 1995. In a new interview with USA Today, Serratos promised, “Next season is gonna be really amazing…the second season is really about life and the star we all know, and seeing all the hard work flourish from her younger years.” She also hinted, “We know [how] the show obviously is going to end,” suggesting that the finale will show the singer’s fatal encounter with Saldivar in a Texas motel room. Other parts of Selena’s life that may be in store for part 2 include her 1992 elopement with Pérez and her first Grammy Award win in 1994. Or, as Serratos put it, “I’m really excited for people to get to see more of the famous moments and iconic things we’ve recognized for so long.”
Who will be added to the Selena: The Series cast for Part 2?
Actress Natasha Perez has confirmed that she takes on the role of Saldivar in future episodes, telling Entertainment Weekly, “The actress in me is fascinated by the journey of a complex character, but the human in me has all sorts of feelings…Yolanda is there to add tension to what’s going on, but what’s going on is so beautiful because it’s an artist finding herself, an artist emerging and finding her place within her family, and society.” Excited for Selena: The Series?
