As we know, the weather anchor has been absent from his usual slot on the NBC News program following recent health issues and a stint in the hospital—but his colleagues won’t let him miss out on the action for too long. While Roker, 68, is still recovering at home and hasn’t returned to Studio 1A just yet, dozens of staff members at the Today show decided to bring the broadcast to him instead. On Wednesday, Dec. 14, the entire staff, including Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Bush Hager, and tons more cast and crew members, showed up at Roker’s doorstep to sing him some Christmas carols and bring him some holiday cheer while he continues on his road to recovery. In a video shared to Twitter, the Today show anchors are seen ringing the doorbell, before Roker opened the door and was overwhelmed with emotion to see all of the staffers who showed up to send him holiday greetings. As the group broke out into “Jingle Bells,” Roker was seen getting very emotional, as his wife, Deborah Roberts—who helped organize the surprise—was also seen enjoying the cheerful moment. “It’s impressive you did that without a prompter,” Roker wittily stated after the performance. But he quickly switched to a more serious note, telling the crowd of his colleagues, “I’ve missed you all so, so very much, all these faces.” “It just means the world to me and to our family and my Deborah, who’s just been my rock. I thank you so much. I really appreciate it,” he added. The staff even performed a second song, this time delivering a clever rendition of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” which they switched to “Al Be Home for Christmas.” “I love you more than you’ll ever know,” Roker told them. Roker–who was initially hospitalized for complications from blood clots in his lungs and his leg—was forced to miss out on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting over his health scare, making a return to back with his Today family a very much needed reunion. Roker later shared a post from the sweet moment to Instagram on Wednesday, writing, “Words cannot express how much I love my @todayshow family for coming over to do a little caroling including a special rendition of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas“ As Parade previously reported, Roker is looking forward to being back on the show, although he is currently considering getting a knee replacement next month, which could extend his absence. For now, his colleagues at NBC at wishing Roker a speedy recovery as they await his return to the show.
