Don’t worry—we stayed away from any flavor that’s been discontinued. So, if your all-time Ben and Jerry’s flavor has, sadly, been retired to their infamous Flavor Graveyard (located outside their flagship factory in Waterbury, Vermont), then rest assured we’re leaving it alone. May those flavors truly rest in peace. But all the flavors that are still in current production? Fair game, baby! No matter if you’re Team Tonight Dough or Team Americone Dream, all of Ben and Jerry’s 50+ flavors have made the list. Keep reading for the best Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavors from Phish Food to Cherry Garcia—ranked.
All Ben and Jerry’s Flavors, Ranked
1. Half Baked
Half Baked is the best Ben and Jerry’s flavor—fight us on it! But in all seriousness, this is actually relatively factual as two years in a row—2020 and 2021—Half Baked has taken home the #1 spot as bestselling Ben and Jerry’s flavor. We don’t know if it’s the gobs of chocolate, cookie dough, or fudge brownie or the fact that this beloved flavor features both chocolate and vanilla ice creams. Whatever it is that keeps this flavor coming in the first place, though, is total ice cream magic.
2. Cherry Garcia
An absolute classic flavor that has been around since 1987, Cherry Garcia has long been a fan-favorite. With cherry-flavored ice cream, bits of actual cherries, and chocolate flakes, this flavor has long been in the top three bestsellers for Ben and Jerry’s.
3. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
While most ice cream brands make a chocolate chip cookie dough flavor, none really compare to Ben and Jerry’s. It’s got absolute gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough interspersed throughout the body of vanilla ice cream and in short, it’s absolutely delicious.
4. Phish Food
Hardcore fans of the Phish Food flavor may be wondering why the chocolatey ice cream is only the fourth best, but it has nothing to do with the flavor itself and everything to do with how good the top three are. That being said, Phish Food is known best for its marshmallow and caramel swirls and of course, its iconic chocolate fish bits.
5. Tonight Dough
Don’t tell Jimmy Fallon (it might just go to his head!), but Tonight Dough is not only delicious, but in terms of sales, it has always performed pretty well throughout the years. With both caramel and chocolate ice creams, chocolate cookie swirls, and gobs of both chocolate chip cookie dough and peanut butter-flavored cookie dough, Tonight Dough really does make the perfect nighttime snack when you’ve got the munchies.
6. Americone Dream
No shade to Stephen Colbert, but for us, his Ben and Jerry’s flavor Americone Dream comes in just one place behind Tonight Dough. Why is that? We love the combination of vanilla ice cream, fudge-covered waffle cone pieces, and a caramel swirl, but it’s just the slightest bit underwhelming in comparison to Tonight Dough—which really pulls out all the stops! 7. Chocolate Fudge Brownie
It really is as simple a recipe as its name suggests—Chocolate Fudge Brownie—but it’s a formula that simply works well.
8. Strawberry Cheesecake
With strawberry cheesecake-flavored ice cream, strawberry bits, and a thick graham cracker swirl, the Strawberry Cheesecake flavor is the next best thing to a real slice of the actual dessert.
9. Chunky Monkey
While the Chunky Monkey is a beloved, timeless flavor, it’s true that banana-flavored ice cream isn’t exactly for everyone. Still, its giant fudge chunks and the addition of walnuts really redeems this flavor in our eyes and quite literally tastes like a tropical island treat.
10. Brownie Batter Core
If you haven’t had Ben and Jerry’s Core line yet—categorized by ice cream flavors with a literal core of gooey goodness in the middle of the pint—we highly recommend starting with Brownie Batter Core. Featuring both chocolate and vanilla ice creams, the aforementioned brownie batter core, and decadent fudge brownie bits, this is our go-to chocolate flavor when we need a little extra chocolatey kick.
11. New York Super Chunk
If you ever find yourself in the city that never sleeps, be sure to stop by the local Ben and Jerry’s and order this iconic favorite.
12. Peanut Butter Cup
Where are the PB fans at?! Peanut butter is a classic flavor in ice cream and with PB-flavored ice cream and peanut butter cups, Ben and Jerry’s Peanut Butter Cup flavor is as peanut-buttery as it can be.
13. Salted Caramel Almond
Another favorite amongst all you caramel lovers, Salted Caramel Almond features vanilla bean ice cream, roasted almond slivers, fudge flakes, and a salted caramel swirl.
14. Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz!
If you prefer getting your daily dose of caffeine from ice cream, definitely check out Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz!, a combination of coffee-flavored ice cream and espresso bean fudge chunks.
15. Chocolate Therapy
We all deserve a little bit of Chocolate Therapy every once and a while and this one is certainly the go-to for true-blue chocoholics.
16. Chubby Hubby
Vanilla malt ice cream, peanutty fudge-covered pretzels, fudge swirls, and peanut butter swirls, all work together to make Chubby Hubby a favorite amongst anyone with a penchant for pretzels.
17. Peanut Butter Fudge Core
Another Core flavor, Peanut Butter Fudge Core isn’t for the faint of peanut-buttery heart.
18. Gimme S’more
Gimme S’more would probably rank higher if it weren’t for the absolute marshmallow-flavored perfection that is the Phish Food flavor. Still, Gimme S’more is delicious in its own right thanks to toasted marshmallow-flavored ice cream, chocolate cookie swirls, graham cracker swirls, and fudge flakes.
19. Mint Chocolate Cookie
To put it bluntly, mint chocolate ice cream just isn’t for everyone. Even still, Mint Chocolate Cookie is everything you love about Girl Scout’s Thin Mints cookies, only in ice cream format. (Although, there is absolutely no connection to GS—FYI.)
20. Netflix and Chilll’d
Come on over to Netflix and Chilll’d. This hilariously named Ben and Jerry’s flavor is in partnership with the streaming platform Netflix. After all, who doesn’t love bingeing their favorite show while bingeing their favorite flavor?
21. Everything But The…
As you can guess, this flavor quite literally features everything but the kitchen sink. We’re talking chocolate and vanilla ice creams, peanut butter cups, fudge-covered toffee pieces, white chocolatey chunks, and fudge-covered almonds. If you’re into that sort of thing—as in, everything—then this is surely the flavor for you.
22. Glampfire Trail Mix
An ideal flavor for tasting around the campfire, Glampfire Trail Mix features chocolate ice cream, crunchy pretzel swirls, marshmallow swirls, and fudge-covered almonds.
23. Salted Caramel Core
If you absolutely can’t get enough of caramel, Salted Caramel Core is hands-down how you can get your fill. Not only does it feature a delicious caramel core, but it also features sweet cream-flavored ice cream and blondie brownie bits for a bit of texture.
24. Pistachio Pistachio
For fans of pistachios, the aptly-named Pistachio Pistachio sounds like a perfect fit, if not a little meta with its roasted pistachios embedded in pistachio-flavored ice cream.
25. Wake and “No Bake” Cookie Dough Core
Featuring vanilla ice cream and peanut butter cookies, peanut butter ice cream, fudge chips, and a no-bake cookie dough core, the Wake and “No Bake” Cookie Dough Core flavor is a cookie-lover’s vice.
26. Triple Caramel Chunk
Sounds good, right? It really is. Living up to the “triple” in its name, Triple Caramel Chunk features caramel-flavored ice cream, caramel swirl, and caramel chunks.
27. Chocolate Shake It
Shake it! Chocolate Shake It isn’t any old chocolate flavor. No—this flavor is chocolate milkshake-flavored and it tastes exactly like you’re sitting in your favorite hole-in-the-wall diner.
28. Ice Cream Sammie
What’s more classic than Ice Cream Sammie—AKA ice cream sandwich—flavored ice cream?
29. Vanilla
Keep it simple with Ben and Jerry’s timeless take on Vanilla.
30. Vanilla Caramel Fudge
Love vanilla, love caramel, and love fudge? If you can’t choose between these three hallmark flavors, we recommend going for the ultimate trio: Vanilla Caramel Fudge.
31. Cookies & Cream Cheesecake Core
Again not for everyone, but if you’re drawn to cookies and cream flavors, Cookies & Cream Cheesecake Core will definitely speak to you.
32. Change Is Brewing
Yes, it is! A totally new flavor, Change Is Brewing was born out of 2020’s big moment for Black Lives Matter. Ben and Jerry’s introduced the new flavor—which features cold brew-flavored coffee, marshmallow swirls, fudge brownie bits, and most notably, contains artwork featuring two Black figures—in 2021 in collaboration with Black-owned businesses as a way to promote racial justice.
33. Mint Chocolate Chance
OK, we totally love Chance the Rapper but Mint Chocolate Chance? Not our fave. Sure, it’s a new flavor so we may need some time to process and warm up to it, but it’s a little simple—just mint ice cream and chocolate brownie bites—to feel all that “new.”
34. Cinnamon Buns
If it’s sugary you want, sugary is what you’ll get with Cinnamon Buns. Think: caramel-flavored ice cream, cinnamon bun dough, and cinnamon streusel swirl. It’s literally a cinnamon bun in ice cream flavor, but all in, we found it to lack the depth that some higher-ranked flavors had.
35. Coffee Toffee Bar Crunch
For lovers of toffee, Coffee Toffee Bar Crunch is a hidden gem in Ben and Jerry’s repertoire. It’s coffee ice cream with fudge-covered toffee pieces that make it taste like you’re biting into a candy bar.
36. Boom Chocolatta Cookie Core
Chocolate enthusiasts whose love for the stuff also coincides with a passion for coffee will really enjoy Boom Chocolatta Cookie Cofe for its mocha and caramel ice cream blend, chocolate cookie core, and addition of fudge flakes and chocolate cookies. All in all, though, it’s a lot to handle even for the chocolatiest of chocolate lovers.
37. Milk & Cookies
Named after the iconic after-school snack or, you know, Santa’s favorite Christmas night treat, Milk & Cookies does kind of taste like a glass of milk paired with a few dunks of cookies. However, the vanilla ice cream combined with chocolate cookie swirl, chocolate chip, and chocolate-chocolate chip cookies, is just too much chocolate and too much cookie for us to bear.
38. Chocolate Milk & Cookies
It’s the sequel we honestly didn’t need. That about says it all.
39. Oat of This Swirled
From the name alone we thought this flavor was Ben and Jerry’s foray into the vegan territory—ie. oat milk. But it’s actually not. While the brand does have other lactose-free flavors, Oat of This Swirled refers to its oatmeal and cinnamon cookie swirls.
40. Karamel Sutra Core
It’s the caramel core for us, but even with that redeeming feature, the chocolate and caramel ice cream flavors combined with fudge chips actually feel like they’re doing a little too much. Karamel Sutra Core, do less.
41. Totally Unbaked
Pretty much the absolute inverse of Unbaked, which sits in the #1 spot, Totally Unbaked contains brownie batter swirls and gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough.
42. Chewy Gooey Cookie
So, low-key, we kinda wish this one was named Chewy Gewy and not Chewy Gooey Cookie, but still. Anyway, you have to be a coconut fan for this one to make sense for you as it features both milk chocolate and coconut ice creams, fudge flakes, shortbread cookies, and caramel swirls. Not to reference another Girl Scout cookie but it is not unlike a Samoas. It does, however, leave a little to be desired.
43. Cannoli
The cannoli, in general, is such a specific flavor that, well, you either love it or you don’t. With its mascarpone ice cream, fudge-covered pastry shell pieces, and mascarpone swirls, for us, it’s a don’t. But, hey—for you it might be a total win.
44 . Brewed to Matter
In a word: Meh. Sure, it’s coffee ice cream with fudge chunks and a brownie batter swirl but in a sea of so many other flavors executed so well, Brewed to Matter is really nothing to write. Plus, were we wrong in expecting some kind of brewery collab with a name like that? Just sayin'.
45. Tiramisu
Again, this is a flavor that’s not necessarily for everyone, which is exactly why we’ve ranked it as low as it is. Still, it’s worth noting that if you go hard for tiramisu, this flavor has mascarpone ice cream, fudge swirls, and shortbread pieces topped with espresso fudge chunks and chocolatey ganache. Super decadent!
46. Go-To Cold Brew
TBH, we expected to enjoy Go-To Cold Brew a lot more—especially because of how much we love a good old-fashioned cold brew coffee. A little too sweet for some people, this flavor features cold brew and sweet cream ice creams and salted caramel swirls, so it is quite sugary tasting.
47. Chocolate Peanut Butter Split
Banana-flavored ice cream isn’t exactly something we crave on the regular (and if we did, we’d definitely go for Chunky Monkey first), but Chocolate Peanut Butter Split also has other redeeming qualities like its mini peanut butter cups.
48. Minter Wonderland
Dark chocolate mint ice cream meets both marshmallow and chocolate cookie swirls in Minter Wonderland.
49. Pumpkin Cheesecake
We get it—everyone loves pumpkin and everyone loves something season. But for us, immediately no.
44. Dublin Mudslide
Now, here’s an ice cream with a bit of an alcoholic kick to it! Sure, we wanted to like Dublin Mudslide much more than we did. (After all, it was hatched in collaboration with sustainable spirits brand Wheyward Spirit.) Alas, we just couldn’t get there—not even with the Irish cream-flavored ice cream, chocolate-chocolate chip cookies, and coffee fudge swirls.
45. Dirt Cake
One of Ben and Jerry’s newest flavors, it’s going to take a while for us to warm up to this one. Named Dirt Cake, it’s worth noting that this ice cream does in fact resemble actual dirt or mud. If you have it in you to look beyond that, the vanilla pudding ice cream with chocolate sandwich cookies, chocolate cookie swirls, milk chocolatey ganache, and chocolate cookie crumble Next up, the best Gatorade flavors—ranked. Note: Our rankings do not include non-dairy, frozen yogurt, or other specialty, limited-edition flavors.
