The recall—which affects Wild Cherry-flavored varieties with June 25, 2023 “Best When Used By” dates—comes after “diluted cleaning solution, which is used on food processing equipment, was inadvertently introduced into a production line at one of our factories,” per the brand’s statement published on Friday, Aug. 12. “The issue was discovered after we received several consumer complaints about the taste of the affected product. The Company is actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove potentially impacted product from circulation,” the press release confirmed. Kraft Heinz said that cases shipped to retailers include four cartons that are shrink-wrapped together. The affected items should not be consumed and can be returned to the store where purchased. To find out if a specific product is part of the recall or to receive reimbursement, customers can contact Kraft Heinz from 9 AM to 6 PM EST, Monday through Friday, at 1-800-280-8252. Last year, the multinational food company formed in 2015 by the merger of Kraft Foods and Heinz, recalled several of its powdered drink products including Arizona Tea, Tang, Country Time and Kool-Aid.
