The actor took to Instagram on Aug. 25 to share a couple snaps from a recent photoshoot, featuring his former Law & Order: Special Victims Unit castmate Mariska Hargitay as well as Law & Order’s Sam Waterston. “Me n homegurl @therealmariskahargitay plus L&O OG Sam Waterston in Btwn the publicity @nbc @wolfentertainment,” he captioned the post, where he can be seen in an endearing head-to-head pose with his long-time colleague. Fans penned notes in the comments calling the team “icons,” with the official NBC account even writing: “LEGENDS.” The love continued to roll in for the actors, as social media users soaked in the nostalgia of it all. “Truly no better duo! 🔥❤️,” one user commented of the TV-detectives, as another echoed the sentiment with, “Aw man…this is a literal dream team ❤️” Others expressed they were ready and waiting for all the content to come. “Drop the photos! All in just 1 place!!!!!!!!” Meloni and Hargitay have worked together for over 20 years, first appearing on the hit NBC show—which was the first spin-off of the original Law & Order—in Sept. 1999. After the premiere of its 21st season in Sept. 2019, the series became TV’s longest-running primetime U.S. live-action series in the history of television, and the only live-action primetime series that debuted in the ’90s and is still producing new episodes. On the other hand, Sam Waterston has been a member of the Law & Order family from inception, playing the role of Jack McCoy since its 1990 premiere. In his return for the upcoming Season 22, the actor is extending his run to 18 seasons, becoming the longest-tenured cast member on the mothership series.
