After the premiere of its 21st season in Sept. 2019, the series became TV’s longest-running primetime U.S. live-action series in the history of television, and the only live-action primetime series that debuted in the ’90s and is still producing new episodes. On the other hand, Sam Waterston has been a member of the Law & Order family from inception, playing the role of Jack McCoy since its 1990 premiere. In his return for the upcoming Season 22, the actor is extending his run to 18 seasons, becoming the longest-tenured cast member on the mothership series. In other Law & Order: SVU news, it was recently announced that Kelli Giddish, who has played the character of Detective Amanda Rollins over the past decade, will be moving on from the show upon Season 24’s conclusion. A historic three-way crossover episode of Law & Order, SVU, and the now Meloni-led Organized Crime is scheduled to air on Sept. 22 from 8-11 PM on NBC, giving fans of Dick Wolf’s crime dramas something to look forward to!
