Iman is celebrating her late husband David Bowie’s would-be 76th birthday. The supermodel took to Instagram to post a throwback photo in honor of the famed rocker, along with a sentiment about his now-absence from her life. The black-and-white snapshot depicted a young Bowie wearing a plain button-up shirt and sunglasses as he slightly tilted his neck back, arms held up behind his straw hat-topped head. The image, shot by photographer Bruce Weber, was originally taken in 1995 in South Africa as part of a spread for Vogue, according to Vanity Fair. “January 8th #BowieForever,” the 67-year-old captioned the post. In addition to the nostalgic picture, the beauty icon also shared a quote summing up her feelings since Bowie’s passing. “Your absence is like the sky, spread over everything,” the text read. To the upload, she added the identical caption and hashtag as the old photo of the musician. Fans and friends sympathized with the fashion industry veteran, adding heartfelt messages of support under both posts. “Sending love and light to you Iman❤️As fans we miss him, but your loss is unimaginable🙏” one Instagrammer wrote. “A day to marvel at his talent, play his music and be grateful for the gift he gave throughout my life. Sending love to you Iman - his soul mate and forever love ❤️,” a second comment read, as another person sent her “strength and faith.” Helena Christensen chimed in, writing, “Forever love ❤️.” Several others dropped “forever” or “Bowie forever” into the comment sections. Bowie died of liver cancer on Jan. 10, 2016, at age 69. Iman and the “Heroes” singer wed in 1992, staying together until his death. The couple had one child together, daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones, 22. Bowie also had a son, Duncan Zowie Haywood Jones, 51, from a previous marriage, while the model has an older daughter, Zulekha Haywood, 44, whom she shares with ex-husband and former NBA Olympic gold medalist Spencer Haywood.
