When Jennifer Aniston debuted the cut and color combo that would forever change the beauty world as we know it back in 1995 for Friends, the ‘do instantly became a cult hit. That shaggy layer job by mane master Chris McMillan, and those blonde highlight streaks by celeb colorist Michael Canalé, gave women everywhere serious FOMO—and made the duo even more famous overnight. And while JenAn kept up the Rach for a good run on-screen, she definitely experimented with her hairstyles (and color) off. Who could forget when she rocked dread-like textured twists to the Emmys with Brad Pitt?! Or went straight-up brunette for a Derailed in 2003? Not us and not Canalé, who in addition to maintaining Jen’s tresses, also works with Heidi Klum, Kate Hudson, Shakira, Penelope Cruz and Carolyn Murphy, when he’s not running his numerous salons and expanding his haircare line. Here he takes us through Aniston’s hairstyle evolution, including the coif that he co-created with McMillan, and leading all the way up to the 2020 SAG Awards, when she bumped into her ex and won the award for Best Female Actor in a Drama Series for The Morning Show to boot.
