As we saw in the first episode, “Death By Design,” Peregrine (Geraldine Hakewill) and James (Joel Jackson) got engaged but (*spoiler alert) by the second episode, “Come Die With Me,” things weren’t looking so great for the newly engaged couple. In season 2, episode 3, “Blood Wedding,” a small-town murder brings Peregrine and Detective Steed to the place where James grew up. James heads home to the countryside to investigate the murder of a childhood friend on the eve of a society wedding. As the investigation proceeds (with Peregrine horning her way into the inquiry), James is reminded that he’ll always be just the son of a farmhand to the wealthy landowners in his hometown. Still smarting from Peregrine’s rejection, James is touched by the kindness of his childhood sweetheart, Sally (Emma Hamilton). As the murderer is unmasked, Peregrine finds herself facing the reality that her relationship with James has irrevocably changed. Can the detective be objective when he personally knows the victim as well as the suspects? How will Peregrine react to learning more about James’ past, including his past love? In the Parade.com exclusive clip below, Peregrine meets Sally, an old flame of Detective Steed’s. (Warning: Spoilers possible.) New episodes drop weekly on Mondays at acorn.tv. Next, Essie Davis on Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and the power of playing Phryne.
