Earlier this season, Gibbs was suspended indefinitely from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service for attacking an animal abuser who was operating an illegal dogfighting ring. Some fans have speculated that taking Gibbs off the force might be a precursor to Harmon’s possible exit from NCIS entirely. Another potential clue? Harmon’s real-life wife, PamDawber, has been guest-starring this season as investigative reporter Marcie Warren, who’s turning to Gibbs for guidance as she tries to solve a cold-case murder. While those two might get to the bottom of that chilling storyline in the season’s last episode, it could also be that Dawber was brought on as a sort of farewell gesture for her husband. What we do know for sure is that NCIS has been renewed for a 19th season—despite some earlier speculation that Harmon’s departure (if it actually happens) might mark the end of the entire show. And hopefully, we won’t lose any more of our NCIS faves along the way! This season has already seen Emily (Juliette Angelo) die of a drug overdose, while Jack Sloane (MariaBello) decided to leave her life behind to do humanitarian work in Afghanistan. With so much at stake—and so many characters come and gone since NCIS started waaaay back in 2003—let’s take a stroll down memory lane and remember just how much the main cast has changed by looking at the show’s stars in Season 1 and now.
