MacIntyre, whose TikTok username is sageandmaize, has documented her experience getting into running and working up to half marathons online. These frequent social media posts have inspired many others to do the same. But earlier this month, the TikToker shared a more sinister experience; what started as a typical morning run quickly turned into something much darker. “Let’s go on an eight-mile run,” MacIntyre prefaced the clip before she continued to check in each mile with updates on her breathing and comfort level. But after she reached mile five, things changed. “Alright, I’m on a run right now, and there’s this guy in a red car that’s driven by me twice, and every time he drives by me, he has his arm out the window and he’s like looking behind when he’s driving by. It’s making me really nervous,” MacIntyre explained. “Just documenting this, just in case,” the 24-year-old stated, with the unsaid part of the sentence likely being, “if something happens to me.” She then went on to describe the car’s make and age. Soon after, MacIntyre was forced to approach the car again, “I do not feel good about this,” she said as she explained that in order to get to her car, she would have to run past the red car–the one that had been following her–one last time. But her gut told her not to do it. MacIntyre continued: “It’s just one of those things where it’s like, you don’t think it’s gonna happen to you until it happens to you. I don’t want to risk anything.” MacIntyre decided to have her parents pick her up instead, and right before they could do so, the red car started to pull out from where it had been parked–which freaked the runner out once more. MacIntyre then approached a house she runs by often and, with fear in her voice, asked the owner if she could wait in their yard instead of by her car. MacIntyre eventually spoke to a police officer, and after, she cut the video to a clip of her in her car explaining more about the situation that unfolded. “Just please be aware of your surroundings when you are going on runs, carry protection with you, just be safe. If you have a gut feeling that something doesn’t feel right, please go with that gut feeling,” the young runner told viewers. She referenced her personal experience that morning, “Where that guy was parked, past that point, for a mile and a half, no one would be able to see or hear me.” Many people in the comments wrote about how they’re glad she’s safe and trusted her gut, with some sharing times when they experienced something similar. “Following a gut feeling saved my life at a rest stop. Always trust that feeling, you’re never overreacting,” one agreeing TikToker wrote. You can watch the full video in the embedded post above. More News:
